When I started writing my first book, THE ROSE & PROSE, A Virtual Love Story, I had not given much thought to actually selling it. The book began as a hobby, a pastime, a way to wile the time away in my retirement years. If not for a few friends, and others inspiring and encouraging me to take the next step, the book would have just been given away as a gift. Well, one thing led to another, and it became a new learning experience; the branding, a website, self publishing, and actual sales! It has lead into a second publication, PEACEFUL PROSE, which is soon to be released next month. And, as they say, the sky’s the limit!

Being at peace is now my primary focus in life. I realize that I had been chasing a fantasy, a dream, but that’s all that it really is. That dream did indeed inspire me to start writing, and I am very grateful for it. But can dreams actually come true? I imagine for some, yes, they can, but I believe that in order to stay in my peaceful zone, I have to accept reality as my real truth….that I’m older, mentally stronger, seasoned, and I am extremely wise. I know the difference between fantasy and reality. But I also know a thing or two about love. I know how to love with all of my heart, and how to hold it there.

Peacefulness is a state of mind, and it is not easy to attain. When you have mental peace, you feel more at ease within yourself, and you experience a sense of self-compassion. So how do you release yourself from thoughts and feelings that have carried you along for some time, feelings that cause so many highs and lows, and a level of anxiety in your daily life? I can’t say I have all the answers, but I think I know some of the ways in which we can achieve a level of inner calm.

Stay real, and connected to nature. Create, love and respect yourself, be kind, laugh, and be happy. Flow with life, see other parts of the world, and go wherever that may lead. And, yes, whatever is meant to be, will be.

Stay gracious,

Linda Joy Mattson, Author (rosemattjoy)
